About the VOR Receiver Checkpoint Sign
A VOR receiver checkpoint is a painted circle on the ramp where pilots park to check their VOR receivers against a published radial. The sign beside it, an information sign per FAA AC 150/5340-18H paragraph 1.12.2, shows the facility identification, its frequency (and TACAN channel), the radial selected for the check and, when the station has DME, the plotted distance from the antenna. The identifier and the radial are at least 7 inches tall and everything else at least 3 inches, black on a 52 × 26 inch yellow blank mounted 24 to 30 inches high on the extension of the checkpoint marking's diameter line. The builder lays it out from Figure 1-20 — BGR VORTAC, 114.8 (CH 95), 153/333, DME 3.8 NM is the AC's own example — and draws the radial with its reciprocal.
