About the Runway Holding Position Sign
Mandatory instruction signs mark places an aircraft or vehicle must not pass without an ATC clearance at a towered airport (or, at a non-towered one, without making sure it's safe), and they're the only airfield signs with a red face. The runway holding position sign carries the designations of the runway ahead, the left end's number first (4-22), and sits beside the holding position marking on the taxiway. FAA AC 150/5340-18 pairs it with a taxiway location sign on the outboard side, so a pilot holding short knows both which runway is ahead and which taxiway they're on. The same sign marks an approach-area hold (15-APCH) where a taxiway crosses under an approach path.
